MilleGen S. A. established in October 1999 has two distinct units: SmartmAbs a therapeutic antibody division and a service contract division (MilleGen services) proposing DNA sequencing, peptide synthesis and molecular biology projects.
SmartmAbs:
SmartmAbs is adrug discovery division of MilleGen with strong expertise in human antibody discovery and genetic engineering of monoclonal antibodies. SmartMabs has developed its own therapeutic antibodies pipeline for cancer treatment. MilleGen has carried out several antibody engineering projects with academic partners (Montpellier Cancer Research Institute (Fr), Stanford Univ. School of Medicine (USA), Copenhagen Univ. (DK), UCL Cancer Institute (UK), …), pharmaceutical companies as LFB Biotechnologies and international organizations like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (Bethesda, MD) and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF, New York, USA).
Our genetic antibody maturation technology allows binding maturation of the antibody to its target as well as Fc engineering to optimize IgG-Fc-mediated functions. Two successful research collaboration projects (5 and 10 FUI calls) with LFB Biotechnologies and the team of Prof. H. Watier (UMR CNRS 6239 GICC, Tours) will led to the generation of new and innovative antibody formats dedicated to the enhancement of therapeutic efficacy.
SmartmAbs includes the Fc mutations in its developed antibodies to propose therapeutic antibodies with higher efficiencies than the antibodies produced by competitors. SmartmAbs is now developing third-generation, therapeutic antibodies with improved clinical outcomes. Our objective is to achieve the proof of concept of our antibody pipeline with the aim of finding partners in the pharmaceutical industry to carry out the clinical trials.
MilleGen SERVICES division:
MilleGen services is a CRO division proposing an array of outsourcing services including high-throughput DNA sequencing, bioinformatics, peptides synthesis and antibodies cloning and sequencing. Our techniques are proven cost-effective and reliable, having been used in the completion of more than 11 years of successful collaborations with academic laboratories (INSERM, INRA, CEA, Ifremer, CNRS, ...), biotech companies (Cellectis, Biogemma Vivalis, Syngenta, Transgene, Argene,...) and pharmaceutical companies (LFB Biotechnologies, Sanofi-Aventis, Servier, Pierre Fabre, ...).
The French “Ministère de l'Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche” as registered MilleGen as an organization carrying out R&D activities. This certification allows private companies to include the research realized by MilleGen as contract services in the “crédit d’impot recherche”.
